I still don't see your van details like year and engine type in your signature? easier to add it then you don't need to remember to write it.
Yeah, I noticed earlier that the van details weren't in there - turns out I had put them under the wrong section. All amended now so hopefully it's showing!

I've just fitted a new brosol carb to my 1.9dg. Can't seem to get tickover speed correct. I'm not really sure if the choke mech is operating correctly as it'll start ok from cold but not tickover without coaxing things along with the throttle pedal.
When I first fitted it the tickover speed was ok when cold but racing as it warmed up, so I backed offthe screw a little which left things perfect when hot but way too slow when cold.
Sorry if this sounds basic,I've always regarded carbs as a bit of specialist 'black art'! I know there will be someone who tells me I should have left it to an expert but like most of us with these vehicles I like to and understand what's going on myself to be able to sort any problems when no help is available.
If it's not idling after the choke comes off (6-8 mins)
Then the mixture could be weak due to an air leak into the induction side.
Or the mixture is not set correctly
