It's sad the state of engineering, we need a 'cad designer' at where I work. The supply of applicants is worrying, the system is truly broken, the options are for someone from University or someone who has progressed up the ladder. University applicants know *uck all and the rest don't exist.

I was doing a marine engineering (boat mechanic) apprenticeship. Day release college was a combination of machining work on lathes and milling machines, hand fitting metal work and theory. Always interesting, unfortunately the work wasn't. I didn't enjoy just replacing one part for another. Anyway, I was asking for bolts and screws in the stores from a given specification.
