Have been away working abroad and finally got back to do more work on the van. My problem of revs speeding up was high on my list as it seemed to have got much worse. And being worse, it seemed to point to something to do with the accelerator cable/pedal. (this had been discounted earlier because I gave it all a really good oiling from both ends etc) So now I decided to have a really good look all the way down the cable and at both ends. After lots of greasing and WD40 the only thing I found was that the pushbar and the pedal were disconnected - you push the pushbar into the clip underneath the pedal. Feeling pretty pissed off that I hadn't found anything I was gobsmacked to discover the problem was gone. I can only surmise it was the disconnection of the pedal. Is this an example of finding a problem much more complicated than it really was?
Also a good example of leaving a problem until it gets so bad that it reveals itself.

Yes and your first response when asking for help was to make sure it wasn't the cable.

Absolutely. For noobs there is often a bit of panic and you can rush into checking things - convinced in yourself that it is a more complicated problem. But cheers guys and thanx for the help!

Was this fixed from inside the cab then? My problem seemed to rectify itself...but it's back again
