Not in a 5 speed its not. Its a dogleg change. Four speed maybe.

Interesting the VW oil The Clash had off VW is a 75W/90 fully synthetic oil according to a little googling but I've struggled to get any definative or authorative answer from VW on oil for the 091/1 094 boxes, seem to get a different answer depending on who you ask
