I would clean up the stub axle , try getting the NEW peen nut onto the thread , looks like that could cause a few problems to start with , then I'd assemble the rest , then if the nut can be tighten up PASSED all the stripped thread and all the way on plus a few and the bearing was happy then I would be happy with it , saying that I would be looking for a GOOD second hand one to replace it but thats just me.

But that was the point - there is no stripped thread on the outer third - even if there were the nut doesn't go on that portion as you can tell from my last photo showing a good undamaged one that I removed! (Docklad has it all done and dusted now anyway :) )

T25 1985-19D water cooled. owned her for three years now. On second engine, VW Caddy 19diesel.
