From what itchyfeet advised on my heads then yes, I would say they are '89 heads.
About the only item on my unknown engine that isn't early.
I tried to see the screw but I couldn't see what you can with your own eyes. I would say discretion is the better part of valour. You're at the last stage, almost ready to go and don't want a drilling / tapping problem to undo all your hard work.
If the paint is dry then the only way is up
ps I can see the screw now, it's like an optical illusion, i could only see a void with a pin across it at first, a bit like the candlestick image

haha, I se what you mean about the optical illusion, i see the pin if I screw my eyes up.
I'll stick in a pressure gauge to tell me what the buzzer doesn't.
Cheers for confirming the head date.
Yep, the only way is under and up.
Sometime next week as we're away this weekend.

Put it all to the back of your mind and enjoy your weekend away, and if it’s not that kind of a weekend - well, just just put it to the back of your mind and make it as enjoyable as possible.
Have you ever seen an unhappy fool?

and be happy that you spotted it before putting all that lovely coolant back in

Yes, glad I spotted it.
Stuck it in the vise to clean it up, pinholes appeared, hit it with the mig and played chase the hole, then realised I was out of gas cos I forgot to turn it off last time. Probably best not to weld it anyway cos the weld will trap coolant and rot out.
Bang goes another £130 for a stainless pipe and another £40 on mig gas.
This damm thing is out to bankrupt me. AGAIN!!
