Bash plates are really heavy but I don't have to move them each time I want to open the rear door lol.

I'm not getting rid of them. Don't want my van damaged.

Actually I'm with Cooper, the OEM pattern is $h1t. Gets in the way apart from the weight and risk to body. My spare fits in the 'wardrobe' area fine, and if I need more space inside I pop a Paulchen rack on the boot and mount the spare on that. Couple of plastic tubes over the strut and jobs a good 'un.

My next question was where is the spare now....just seems a rather hasty and non urgent modification...if it was sold to fund critical repairs fair enuf....but still think its a step in the wrong direction myself, and leaves holes behind as well!

The OEM pattern is far from $h1t, weighs 9kgs all in and has no risk to the body as the body is adapted inside to hold the hinges. The Syncronutz one is the only other one to consider. Cooper, you need bulky and heavy when you have a 35kg wheel and tyre hanging out back and a rear door is not designed to carry a spare wheel.

There's a neat fold down jobby on ebay for £150 new for a t2, guess it would fit a t25??? item 251079810710

And it would need a tad reinforcing for a syncro!!!!

i dose not look like the rear number plate will be luminated, would get you in trouble with the boys in blue.

Ah, this is one of those 'decoupler' type things isn't it ?

I bought one once for £400, I wasn't impressed, it sat around for a bit, then I got rid. Objectively, they (a) get in the way when the tailgate's open (b) add weight to the vehicle (c) are big ugly things that rust (d) stress the body panels (I've seen warped panels with a properly fitted VW carrier). I rest my case !
