Re: Petrol to AFN ETDi
My mpg is 30 - 32 I think. I'm getting odd fill ups. I've filled and had 20mpg and I've filled and had 48 mpg I'm averaging out at 30 - 32 ish. I'm still running incorrect vnt Controll so at light throttle I still have big boost. I'm hoping for 35ish once the vnt is being controlled correctly and the intercooler is plumbed in. Once the Controll is sorted I'll play with tyre sizes to see if lower gearing will improve mpg.

Re: Petrol to AFN ETDi
I removed my roof bars as I only use them in the summer.
Mix of motorway driving, A and B roads and road town. Just filled up and worked it out to be 33MPG. Very happy with that. This would improved if I drove very carefully, but I'm not going to be. I'm driving fairly sensibly most of the time but still using the power when I want to/need to.
I checked to trip counter over 136 miles with my TomTom. After taking into account tyre size it proved to be very accurate.

Re: Petrol to AFN ETDi
I was down the new forest this weekend Tom and there was a sandy coloured t25 behind me (possibly a Syncro but I couldnt tell) and they were enthusiastically bobbing along playing catch up on the flat. I knew there was a massive hill coming up and we were behind a quite slow moving AA recovery lorry, so as it slowed for the hill and the van behind was slowing too, I popped the indicator on to overtake the AA truck and floored the peddle still in 4th. We had all the bikes on the back and everything and the look on the AA fellas face as i accelerated past him doing 65mph was priceless as he did a double take
God knows what the T25 behind me must have thought but I was laughing my head off all the way up to the top with them out of sight behind me
our turning was a mile after that and I hung back so I could see how long it took for them to catch up but got board of waiting and headed off.

I love it when the lorries flash you in and you carry on over taking traffic!
I was thinking of a remap but I'm not going to bother. I drove a passat the other night that had been remapped and although it was very fast it wasn't nice to drive. Kind of on off power.
To be getting over 30MPG in a 24year camper van that drives like a modern vehicle is amazing.
The only downside for me so far is when I filled up earlier there weren't any gloves and I ended up with a faint smell of diesel on my right hand. As people say there are always compromses!

I said "drives like a modern vehicle". I didn't say it drives exactly the same as a brand new top of the range T5 4motion did I?
Have you driven a well sorted, upgraded, no compromise, Etdi T25?

No, in fairness, you didnt say it drives exactly the same as a top of the range T5 4motion but you did say it "drives like a modern vehicle" which of course is complete nonsense .... its a 30 year old design after all!! Which modern vehicle do you have in mind?
ninja.turtle007 wrote:Have you driven a well sorted, upgraded, no compromise, Etdi T25?
Again, in fairness, no I haven't because such a beast doesn't exist. An Etdi T25 IS a compromise. Its a compromise between the old and the not so new. I have driven an Mtdi though which had thousands and thousands spent on it to 'upgrade it' and wasnt really impressed. I prefer my 'not really upgraded at all' T25 which still manages over 30 mpg
I do have a modern vehicle though which is capable of over 70 MPG or 120 MPH whichever you feel like doing at the time .....

Re: Petrol to AFN ETDi
I really think if you drove mine you would be very surprised. Lots of usable power, excellent brakes with ABS, very good suspension setup, long gears etc.
Driving along a a twisty, hilly B road you would be surprised at how little difference there is between it and a Sprinter.
I have a standard JX velle too, which I love but they drive like two very different vehicles.
Anyway you are welcome to your opinion Mr Paddy. Just as you were when you said that the Syncro Cooper was looking at hadn't been resprayed and something about not needing difflocks.

They do when you knock the 10amp fuse out next to the ECU
