That looks much better now, well done!

It's nice when you get them all put back together after all the hard work and can see something for your efforts :ok

WOW!
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it!

ideally more power ... not doing SVX now .. so will be wanting to get more power with the oil burner .. so 1.9 of some kinds ... maybe just a simple 1.9 TD ... or might do a 1.9 TDI ....

still got interior / seat covers to fix / repair...

never ends really LOL

very nice work mate. ANy chance you could show us a pic or two + tips on how to fitting of caravanstore awning onto side of westy pop-top. Have one and sw your brackets - since doing this have you had any inspiration on whether this way of mounting works well? Am thibnking perhaps making a removable/clamp in place bracket each end for gutter with rubberised feet? cheers, Tim

ok , got around to fitting last rear camber adjustment shim , then put all adaptors back on and fitted alloys

Image

again , i painted alloys , so look ok from a distance .. but up close they are not brill ... but hey .. who cares .. i dont !

sadly my sliding door now touches the alloys again ! grrrr , as the shim has brought the wheel out a bit .. also now i have my nice solid sliding door on that dont help.

so looks like i might have to mod the sliding door AGAIN !

jed the spread wrote:She is a rusty bugger all right, but glad you took it on as Lloyd would have taken the interior out and sold the shell. I considered buying it from him and chopping it up as I knew Futbus would have had the roof section. Just a quick insight as to what you will find behind the cooker unit (horizontal seem LH side)
Bottom of this page from when I did my Westy

Have a look along the inside back window of the tail gate, it has double glazing so their is a good chance it will be f**ked there too.

It will be a good advert should you wish to start doing these vans as one thing the south is lacking is a good body repair fella. I will follow this with interest.

ok , now the big jobs are out the way (MOT in a few months though .. hmmm )

turning my mind to camping etc , i bought some LED strip lights last year , never got around to doing anything with them , so found some time now to rig them up.

Found an old reverse parking sensor power lead from a cigi socket , trouble was it was outputing 5v .. i needed 12 for the LED's , so i took it apart and by passed all the gubins inside :)

Image

now i have 12v output :)

i then wired in all three strip lights to the end of the long lead ,

Image

now .. i am not quite sure what to do next on mounting of the strips ...i think i am going to wait till its dark and see how directional the light beam is ...

couple of options , mount then all to a tent peg fancing in different directions , or attached all three to bull dog clips so they can be attached to roof gutter /anywhere ....

also fixed my black boxer charger ... i know they are old .. but for a 99p fix it was quick and cheap .... i have BIG plans about the charging system ... but will tell more later in the year when i have something to show. ...

ok came up with an idea ... (patent pending ... )

started with a piece of fibre glass i had laying around :

Image

mark out my grand design

Image

cut out the parts , you get the idea yet ?

Image

bolted together :
Image

then i used some tiger seal to stick the strip lights onto it .. hopfully giving some flex and will last awhile

Image

so the idea is i can have all three strips together .. or fan them out to form a large lamp to hang from awning etc ....

will see how well it works later when its dark ...

views ?
