Bernoulli's theorem eh? Blimey, that takes me back to day release at Twickenham Tech. College, "studying" Process Plant Design. I'll have to do some revision there...
I was on the verge of doing a modest air flow test myself: Using my Kestrel 1000 tied to a scrap of expanded mesh wedged into the light-box aperture. The Kestrel can record peak values so all I need to do is a series of fixed-speed runs do get some data.

ha ha - no the beer and idiocy happened at the weekend - I'm more or less sober at the moment....
I tied a cheap farnell pressure switch measuring between 1 and 2 bar I think to various places - then just connected the multimeter up and noted the values at certain points. Moves around a bit but you can get some high/low readings and compare them. I should try it again with the air directed to behind the van... The Kestrel sounds like a much more serious bit of kit - would be interested in what you find
The Kestrel 1000 is the base model so only a wind speed meter; mine was a lucky find when I bought an old toolbox at a workshop clearance
It's the old style one like this:
I don't see why a simple bit of ducting wouldn't drastically improve those corner-mounted coolers performance, once the tedious trial-and-error bit has been done.
I want to put an oil cooler on the SA mounted on the nearside corner, to keep the hose runs nice and short to the take-off. It would work for a wbx too, they could all do with a chassis-mounted remote filter for easier access, syncros especially!

Have some temps to report now I've got the charge cooler circuit working correctly. Around town normal driving = 28 degrees. 40 odd mph on a bypass = upto 36 degrees. Very steep hill (box hill) 3rd gear full boost =45 degrees. Have yet to do a motorway hill, but will report back when I di
I reckon the M25 in traffic, August last year around 6pm would have been a good test. It's too cool at the moment to see if heat soak is likely to be a problem imho.

I don't think it will ever be a problem to be honest. When the c cooler circuit was airlocked the temps were aroun high 60's. No noticeable loss in power, a passat doesn't get problems in traffic, so we shouldn't either.
I'll record some motorway temps, I reckon low 30's to mid 40's depending on incline. Highest I've seen the water temps since fixing the van has been 77 degrees. Before I sorted the pipework out it was 87 degrees..

Front of car installation couldn't be more different to the same engine in the back of a syncro! Air flow is completely different, in fact you can't compare a syncro to a 2wd or even petrol to diesel, cooling-wise. Chalk and cheese!

I'm sure yours is a shedload better for being re-plumbed, but you could do with a good hot spell here to check what's going on before setting off to la Bella Italia, no?

Would be nice to get some miles in full stop! But, yes would be nice to test it in all temp ranges. I'm going to book it in somewhere for a tune up, as I know it was only set up mechanically so some fettling might get some better mpg. Shame all the Vagcom boffins live oop north

I dont, i use VCDS most days and can tune the TDIs, its not a problem to do, if you fancy a weekend in devon/cornwall can tie it all in at the same time mate
