Seems it may be a glow plug problem, got the easy ones out.......but the one closest the back has rounded off...... Brilliant :(

Non operative glow plugs wouldn't make it run rough once it was started, I think you might have air in the line?

After taking 2 plugs our neither of which got warm when I tested them, thought Id change them all, I think the new fuel filter will help if and when I do get it started, as the old one was packed with crap.
Just don't know how to get this pesky plug out.

It will run rough until the engine is up to temp, especially at this time of year.

I thought they turned off after 30 seconds anyway?

The dirty fuel filter would account for the rough running then. Are you struggling with the plugs under the pump, I found taking the fuel pipes off gave me a bit more room?

I have removed the fuel lines, havent tried to remove the one under the pump yet, struggling with the one nearest the back of the van, nearest the pully's, it's rounded off.

Can you get mole grips in there?

I'd leave it for now. It will start on 3.

Undo the banjo on the pump for the return fuel line and get someone to turn the key - fuel will flood everywhere if all is well. That's also a really good way of bleeding the fuel system.

Did you check there was 12v at the solenoid like Rob suggested?

Can't get mole grips in, will try and get the other one instead, I don't have a multi-meter, but I did turn ignition on and take the wire off and put back on, it did click so am hoping it's ok.

Will get some new plugs in it tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks for everyone's help and advice thus far,

Cheers

Get yourself a multi meter. For £10 it's a very good investment.

Glad it's sorted.
