Re: Let the work begin...
Thanks for the comments guys.
From the outside, my seams don't look bad at all, however, once the van has been stripped, any bad seams will be 100% repaired, or if needed, new metal welded in.
Trust me, as soon as I get pictures, they'll be on here.

Re: Let the work begin...
Less than a month to go untill work starts, i'm getting very excited!
On a side note, Creative Coachworks are having an open day. I can't go as i'm working but if any of you lot pop along, you may see my van arround somewhere.

Re: Let the work begin...
Another quick update.
I've spoken to Alan at Creative again today, he's just waiting for a date from the media blaster as to when he can do the van, and then they'll start stripping it down and getting it ready for blasting!
I've also bought some new wheels for the van. I got them for a steal with four brand new tyres on. They're in fantastic condition, and will be painted once i've set the colour scheme.

Well the van has gone in for sandblasting!
Little later than expected due to unforseen circumstances, but hey! Hopefully going to have a look round it on Saturday. I'll have my camera...

Will be watching Jimmys transformation closely - thanks for sharing it with us. We have an 80s westfalia multivan that we are planning on renovating in the winter so this will inspire us.
..I'm also a Shropshire lad and it will be gods to see how you get on with Creative as we haven't decided on garages.

Sounds good!
I first saw Creatives little advert in the back of Camper&Bus, but when I saw on the website that they were doing the work for the VolksWorld Show car, I had to go and speak to them!
Alan and Chris are just fantastic! So helpfull and friendly! I'm a firm believer of you get what you pay for, and i'm very happy to be spending my money with them! (If you have any questions, feel free to PM me)

The dub has been fully shot blasted, and has been covered with a 2K Zinc chromate etch primer for protection whilst the repairs and modifications are being done.
All the rotten metal has been cut out, and new panels are on their way.
Needless to say, i'm super happy!

Sounds great. Have you any drawings? How will the roll cage affect the openness of the cab with the B pillar removed? Jon.
1982 Diesel hightop. 1Y engine. Still work in progress but running and taking us on holidays.

Thanks for the comment.
No, i don't. I myself only have how I want it to look. I've passed this on to Alan at Creative, and he's making it happen!
We're not sure yet if it will need a cage. Alan is looking at other ways of keeping the integrity.

Re: Let the work begin...
OKay, another update. The guys at Creative have been hard at work removing all the rotten metal, the rust, the dented mis-shapen panels etc.
They've started re-building the structure around the rear bed, the rear wheel arches have been replaced, the rear corners have been repaired, loads!
Anyway, i'll let the photos do the talking:

And here's how it stands now:

The guys were still busy grinding and welding when I arrived, so still plenty of work going on!

Re: Let the work begin...
hey look its your van but what/why fix the panals on by welding them in the seams?, are you going to fill them and de-seam it or what
have a look here, half way down,https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 7&start=60 you will see the front panal was welded in the seams and bodged over with filler, ,and this i beleive by a vw dealer, the welds were then ground out and this left little remaining for securing,
if ive jumped the gun and its done for another reason or choice then accept my oppologies.
oh and when do the B posts come out/off were all waiting
