oh boy......
the single central carb is absolute tosh.
look at the choke sizes, you will be effectivley strangling your engine.
plus there is the mahoosive inlect tract to contend with (carb icing etc)
just because jk sell em it really dont mean they work.
dont waste your money, i cant stress how rrrruuubbbbiiiisssh this kit is.
either refurb the solex or if you got a few more quid its 36 or 40mm drla dellortos every single time

i agree jason the solexes with larger jets are no match for a pair of 36 or 40 dellortos but for the labour involved of drilling out the jets made a massive difference to the top speed and 60mph upwards acceleration on the motorway , the 1800 cc an motor though is way better in standard form than the stock cu motor even with twin 40s , if you really want to go fast theres no substitute for a bigger capacity motor

Re: 2.0l Aircooled engine peformance
so from what i gather the ups and downs of a single carb is as follows
ups
better mpg
downs
performance not as good as webbers but better than solex
carb icing, but exhaust wrap can eliminate this

Re: 2.0l Aircooled engine peformance
no performance far worse than solex worse mpg as you will be foot down everywhere to make it go
please please please dont waste your money on the single weber
get the solex refurbed or buy some dells.
dells actualy increase mpg (once you have stopped driving like a berk listening to the induction roar!!)

Re: 2.0l Aircooled engine peformance
no weber kits are any good for the wedge really.
weber single central twin choke is gash, plain and simple, cant emphasise just how gash they are.
weber icts are twin singles just like solex but have no chokes or performance gains and cost almost as much as dellortos.
weber ida / idf are huge money second hand and old.
dellorto drla 36 or 40mm drla are old alfa carbs, but a superior carb to the ida / idf
stateside tuning sell refurbed complete bolt on drla kits with a base jet spec supplied.

or go see http://www.gasure.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to see steve shaw to rebuild your leaky solex carbs.

of course you could just service the engine and ignition, set up the timing and see how you go. i did and the performance difference was great and she pulled up hill on motorways at 60mph no problem....but remember they are called Wedge for a good reason..... they are not built to go fast....just to get you there with a cold beer in the fridge!!
