yep i replaced mine with 8mm copper, i got it with a plastic coating on it. The problem comes from the nut and olive that joins the pipe to the gas tank controls, its not a normal 1/4" fitting. You can nick the nut and olive of a fitting like this http://vwbusshop.de/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; search for Connecting flange for floor gas duct
Part Number: 333000051. i got mine locally.
As my van has removable kitchen, that is my only internal point, so no dist block, but i have the outside bbq point as well.
If you want some more pics let me know, i even have a nut and olive here i could send, but would probably cost more to post than you sourcing locally

Cheers Lloydy, Poshbuggers and Ninja Turtle.
All useful answers.
I was going to drop it off for blasting and powder coating in black today but the paint shop is also on holiday.

Re: Westfailia Under Floor Gastank.
Now that the 2.0i conversion is finished I am going to fit the the gas tank.
My problem is - the space under the left hand side of the van where the gas tank normally fits now houses the back box of the exhaust system.
Has anybody got a van with a gas tank fitted under the sliding door area?
Or can anyone see any problems with fitting one there? I've looked at it from several angles and can't see any issues.
The tanks can be fitted to left or right, the hangers need to be swapped over.
Cheers

Westfailia Under Floor Gastank.
I was discussing this with a good friend the other week.
Westfalia got it wrong (just the position of the gas tank!) on the T3 and fitted it on the wrong side. Everyone I have seen has a huge gas pipe which they throw under the van.
They corrected this on the Florida and put it in an easily accessible location (under the sliding door).
So yes - put it under the sliding door!
Titus - I may have misunderstood one of your earlier comments - but just in case the BBQ attachment can be used in addition to the main outlet. Eg the fridge stays on when you have a BBQ!
IMO the BBQ point has to be one of the best add ons you can get for a van. I just need to get a splitter so I can run more than one appliance at the same time!

I could never work the logic in the positioning apart from the short pipe up to the "kitchen area".ringo wrote:....Westfalia got it wrong (just the position of the gas tank!) on the T3 and fitted it on the wrong side. Everyone I have seen has a huge gas pipe which they throw under the van.

That's where it's going.

Fitted.

Got to find a split ring for the keeper chain.
Tomorrow I'm going to stick a bit of gas.

TAD,
Nice job there, looks sweet!
I don't suppose you have any more pictures of how you fitted the bolts through the floor?
Thinking of getting a gas tank myself, but do not want any grief lifting floor up.
How low does your van sit as I am concerned about ground clearance, my van is lowered 50mm?
Many thanks, Mark.

Re: Westfailia Under Floor Gastank.
Sorry, don't have anymore pictures.
To fit the tank I did:
I had to lift a bit of the laminate floor so that I could drill through the plywood sub floor.
Parked up with both right hand wheels (sliding door on the right) on the kerb.
Then raised it a bit more by driving up the leveling wedges. That gave me enough room and clearance underneath.
I lifted the tank up on a trolley jack & board and positioned it where it sat best.
This becomes obvious when you start to fit the tank.
One of the two hangers is flat and sits on the flat bit towards the rear, the other hanger is dog legged and that sits "in" one of the floor indentations.
I then drilled up through with a small diameter drill, there is enough room to position the drill bit in the cutouts on the hangers.
Then from a above with a hole cutter I removed part of the plywood subfloor so that I could to the tank hanger bolts.
I then drilled out the four holes to 10,5 mm.
The tank is then secured by four M10 bolts.
That's about it really.
