or i'd ignor that i'd been told not to refit them....
i'm thinking about it Steve , problem being that the one's i have are the stretch ones so i'm unsure about reusing them

You could try Laurie Pettit there's a link on the front of this site.
He's supposed to be a wizard with the T25 engine.

Either he'll suggest a source or say its Ok in extremis to re-use them - I did my AAZ big-end bolts 9 months ago.

Bet someone has a set sitting on a shelf somewhere, how do they rebuild engines otherwise?

Use some DG ones.. they are non streatch type and are a whole lot stronger.. Cheaper than ARP bolts too... I have seen them used in hi-po type 1 drag engines...
Cant be that dear from VW though!!! dont skimp on the part that will wreck the lot!! or someone must have a dead 1.9 DG here...
