You could clean out the oil/water heat exchanger sandwich pipework, anything to keep the engine as a whole and oil cool... and limit your power settings when cruising and hill climbing and it might go for years if it is low on pressure.

And mull over this thread... http://www.club80-90.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=193

Oh! and start saving :)

Harryman (Clive) and ghost123uk,
Yes, seems that we try to grasp at any straw to avoid facing the the most likely cause.
On another post 'Horza' described the wasserboxer as "a delicate flower"

But hope springs eternal  and 'jackandcicely' have discovered a suspect batch of oil filters. How bad must it feel when you have just done an engine change, to have those dreaded symptoms.

I know in the long run it will proberbly be the engine and as I said I did buy two second hand units and this is the one I didnt hear running, but other than time and some bits it hasent cost me mutch and I can always put the other engine in and the oil gauge is good for all engines so wont be wasted.

I like the link that HarryMann put yup if the this and the other engine are f###ed then the scooby will be looked into, but on the link was names of engine supplyers and one in particular is the course of all my woo's selling crap recon then lists of resons why thay cant help me even when the engine was under warrenty.
So if VS want the grit that was used to clean the recon that they forgot to remove before supplying the engine. Please send a large sea to me and I will happerly return it, as it didnt do my engine any goood floating round in the oil and water for 8 months

Trust a supplyer again you have to be joking.
Its called give me youre money then F### off prat.

Sorry rant over for now but every time I see VS or their side kicks E,VW
I get a red mist come over.

Ok no E.vw but VS are entered as a supplier of recon engines, now supplied engines by Evw.
Ill let this thread die just as quick as vs engines and backup.

Laurie Petit is recommended for rebuilds, others include Volkspares and VEGE, I think.
