Factory sliding sunroof into my panel van

Brave man! It reminds me of the roof skin panel I unpicked last year...there must be about 200 spot welds round the gutters and in the screen surround!

Yeah theres a few but all the drillings done now and a good spot welder helps makes life much quicker saves on cleaning plug welds just the skin to go on now

Got the skin dropped on this evening and checked everything fitted and gapped up well

All thats left now it fits ok is clean everything up give the cassette and the underside of the roof skin a lick of paint then drop the skin on and get the spot welder on the job might have to change the tips to do around the screen tho

The boss has just got that spot welder to do the e-type floorpans looks nice but then it wants to for £15k lol. Hes got some nice stuff in there rolls are real handy aswel as pull max, folders etc now all i need to do is to persuade him to start on the vw's lol

progress has been slow over the last month or so but the van is now in the early paint stages, managed to get the doors and sunroof in the oven and get first coats of high build primer on them hopeing il have enough time to get the van in and done tommorow after work

Certainly red and shiny Quick 1500 off and a quick rub over with polisher and I can build it back up get some black bits back on to break it up

its getting there now not much left to do. Ready for a good wash and polish but dont want to get it wet until ive finished waxoiling the rear corners where the water drips down air vents

work commitments held up progress on the van but back on with it now and hopefully finished for show season.
Got some new wheels but not sure if i like them now.....what do you guys think?


Also got the side planks painted and offered up with tape before fitting to check clearences on side door.

The front centre caps arent fitted correctly at the thats why the dont look right

no, it looks good, I dont much like defined spokes in rims i prefere the look of more radial style but they do look a nice wheel, its also nice to see a van that is just that, a van

nice van Jon mate, once you sort out the front centre caps they'll look fine, but the duchatalets would also look the dogs
very sleeper, very trick, shame it's an oil burner, but then that's sleeper
A van that looked like that with a STi twin turbo engine that I would really like (Fin you have sown the seeds....)

Yes Aidan, I'm a sucker for an old oil burner!! One day if it turns out to be a weekend van im sure the supercharged jag v8 might find it's way in the back but for now the French filth will do just fine even if it does have a little power smoke lol
