Give me some credit, do you really think i'd be asking if the code was in the van?

Kev mate, its been suggested to you that the code may be under the dash above the pedals as well as many other places, its also been pointed out that you can get the code etc from vw, have you searched for any of these places(with the exception of vw)lol, ?
If you brought it into my paintshop then you or we would have the code within 5 mins via colour swatches if nothing else or via a phone call to vw,
As has been said , you can go ont yard and have as many codes for as many years as you wish it matters nowt as it may as has also been said a special order.
we are trying to help you mate but we dont have a xtal ball its on loan again.

I have looked in all the suggested places and the guy in the spray shop has checked too, the VW dealer i called today tried but couldnt get any paint details. I'll go down the route of choosing the nearest match if i cant get a code but just thought i may get lucky on here. You never know someone might have had the same "dull" van.

If it is some odd-ball colour then why dont you take down all the VIN number details and phone VW's customer care dept. I would imagine that they would know what colour it was finished in, seeing as they built the thing...

Good luck.

Just to let you know where i'm at with the colour, i was pretty certain the colour was slate blue so the spray shop had another tester mixed and this time it came out similar but quite a bit more blue. The spray guy mixes his own paint aswell using something like a "smart repair" system and it was a closer match so rather than tint the paint i'm going with that. As suggested i have tried two main VW dealers stating the VIN number etc and they said the computer system only gave blue as the colour probably due to the age of the van.
Thanks for all your advice/help, and if it turns out ok i may post a pic.
Regards
Kevin

Never mind IF it turns out ok :D it will.. the colour you have to remember will have faded over time , go with what your happy with, it will work fine and bang up some pickies of before and after.
