Ringo
Only had our van for 10 months and 16000 miles so we're relative beginners and the gas thing's still a bit of a mystery. Our van is used daily for work runs and most, prob 4 out of 5, weekends for trips including winter so I would like to have the gas sorted out. During the summer we only need hook ups for the fridge so if we could run the fridge on gas economically we could disperse with hook ups and concentrate on getting good pitches and wild camp more.
What did your under floor tank cost fitted?, what gas do you fill it with?, and at what cost?.

Re: 907 gas refills ?
Sorted
If I remove the sliding base which holds the 2.72 camping gaz bottles from the Holdsworth cupboard I can fit a calor 3.9kg propane bottle snugly. I thought of putting a non slip pad on the floor, leaving the vent clear. Then stick a couple of velcro pads to the sides to attach maybe sanding pads thereby securing the bottle. No cutting or screwing involved so the fibre glass lined cupboard remains intact and reverting to the original seup would only take a few minutes.
Cost of gas almost halved
Noticed that the calor butane 4.5kg would also fit and would reduce the gas cost by a further 8%, is anyone using these? what is the difference between butane and propane?

Re: 907 gas refills ?
Butane doesn't work much below 4 deg C and not at all at 0 deg C, Propane works down to about -40 deg C. So if your winter camping you need Propane.tomcourtney wrote: Noticed that the calor butane 4.5kg would also fit and would reduce the gas cost by a further 8%, is anyone using these? what is the difference between butane and propane?

The caravan place and a boatyard wanted £30 for the bottle + £15 to fill = £45 total.
Ebay price from Tenthire direct Walsall =£18.50 total.
Simples
Should have bought the reg locally though

Re: 907 gas refills ?
Tom,
Let me know if you get stuck with the regulator.
I also live in Stafford and you can borrow my reg til you get back.
We also use the 3.9 kg orange propane.
Andy.

hi scoobydrew
Very kind of you, I might just take you up on that if you're not using your van for 9 or 10 days.
