PocoIow, hope I haven't hijacked your France Destination Q&A but I guess it's all good info for everyone I guess.
Ian, Thanks for the info.
We'll give Nourmoutier a visit but probably camp instead at a town a bit further south.
We've got the Aires book but the France Passion guide seemed a good idea so I've just ordered it (shame I missed out on the discount code  ).
First trip abroad in our first camper so should be interesting  hopefully fun !

Ref booking up sites. We need to be around Modane (or Alpe d'Huez) in the alps so may book up a site - if anyone knows any sites then suggestions welcome. I looked at a couple but they were asking for a week minimum stay.

Thanks.

If you're chasing the Tour then better book quick IF they're not all full ... hence the "1 week only" guff

I think we stayed at Camping Municipal La Pointe a few years back. Bloody windy as hell the whole time if I remember right.

50 Euros a night for a family of 4 and that doesn't even include having a shower. :|

I did wonder when I saw the shape of the trees!

Has anyone stayed around Fouras? Looks like a convenient base.

Its a lovely area youve chosen, if you havnt been Concearneau is well worth a visit as is Quimper. If its of interest i reckon you'll find many similar site to DuLetty with similar facilities for the kids which may come in cheaper per night. Camping Karanterec at La Foret Fouesnant is 10 euros cheaper and if you head east a bit there are some great sites - La Plage and La Baie at Carnac and Camping Kervilor at Le Trinite Sur mer. All walking distance to beaches.

Concarneau, Carnac and Aradon all good in southern Brittainy, beaches, campsites but may be crowded in August.

Have an internet look at le Lac des Varennes, 72340, Marcon. http://www.lacdesvarennes.com in the Loir region. Away from the main Loire crowds but that is easily accessible. The park is on a lake with sandy beach, good pitches and activities for kids.
Grassed pitches and shade trees with good ablutions.
We've been twice as its a good place to chill out.

didnt think it was as much as 50euro a night - we have booked for 10 nights in august and the cost was 420 euro about £360, to be honest we were going to book a site in cornwall at the end of june for one week and that was the same cost - main problem i have is two teenage boys who get bored very easily so i have to look for busy sites with loads going on, if it was just me and the missus i think we would look for quieter and cheaper sites - but as it is we're away for 11 days and including petrol, ferry , tolls etc it works out £720 quid - i thought that was good going for an august holiday!!

Brittany is OK but if you want almost gauranteed wall to wall sunshine you need to get south of the Loire
