oh yes that , notice that there are no caravelle cl syncros listed in the type listing, me thinks that's another of the mistakes in Etka for our model, like if you put our chassis number into ETOS it will get part of the type but won't actually get you the exact vehicle, whereas for later cars if you put the chassis number in it will give you the exact type with the correct engine and gearbox code

there were mistakes too with the type numbers from the factory on the dokas I know - the Naffi wagon had the white sticker and that clearly stated 245, whereas it was clearly a 247 Double cab, and you see a lot of german mobile.de ads with type number quoted and they are clearly wrong, 247 when it's a Van or a 'velle for example

thats probably down the the templates set up in Mobile. and peoples ignorance of the type numbering system, nothing wrong with ignorance of the system, why do you need to know? really? not stuff for the man in the street, all he knows is hes got a van and he wants to sell it and he is probably faced with a bewildering array of meaningless numbers, I know what I would do, just pick one so I could sell my van!

It says that W33, M318, M377, N992 cannot be identified. It does not mention wheel arch extensions, 6 x 14 wheels with 205/14 tyres, power steering, towbar, wheel carrier, rear wash wipe, intermittant wipe, diff lock.
It mentions 90A generator, rear fog lamp, extra heater in the back and other silly stuff....

Although did see that it was..... Built on the 5th July 89' & Left Factory for England on the 6th July 89'.
Which I thought was kind-of interesting after reading about SyncroPaddy's.

Maybe yours was a special order and mine was for stock. When you look at the spec for mine it must have been a very expensive vehicle at the time for something not very exiting and ordinary.

thread resurrection!
just got mine back, as per syncropaddy, still not a complete list but it does run to two pages! 17 m-codes inc the 16" one. I Do have a mcode on the white sticker that isnt on the cert (984) and a p code that relates to the multivan cupboards isnt on the cert. And also some mystery letter codes on the sticker that i was hoping to find out CJS EHT FTI but they aren't on the cert.
Have emailed them back asking why its not complete

Has the passenger jump seats on it though, so is a factory multivan

Well it doesnt have the M code for the spare wheel carrier or tow bar for a start. Ill go out and have a good look tomorrow

They are probably not genuine VW original come on fess up Andrew you really have a gate on the back of your van which you are trying to pass off as a s VW spare wheel carrier

Not that impressed with it really, it states m code 580 = beige interior. But every other place on line says 580 is passenger jump seats (which I have)
Simon, are you able to translate 253 T9A? Would be interested what it comes out with.

253 T9A = type 2 multivan syncro lhd TD JX there were two versions 14" and 16"

Woo Hoo! Thanks Aiden, so that confirms its a factory multivan then. I think on the birth cert the English translation leaves a lot to be desired, as it says something different.

Agree, I got one for the Tristar, Wanted it for the nerdy things like M codes but not impressed with the accuracy/info & a waste of money really.

info from Etka, but as stated previously the information source may not be complete, exhaustive or even accurate

I managed to get the build sheet for Beaker from VW at Milton Keynes with the help of the manager at Warrington VW dealer 5 years ago, for free, it showed all the M codes, about 20 in all, all of which were included in the basic vehicle type, so no M codes showed on the white sticker at all; apparantly that info came from the VW computer, maybe the one in Germany that does the Urkunde, maybe a UK one that has the records of what was delivered, but I think it was from germany as I had to translate a few things and a few codes I never did figure out
M218 is the one I like - basically it means that it doesn't have the type number on the VIN plate, most vans don't appear to have it on the plate - seems a very odd thing to register - maybe a legal requirement in some markets - maybe to distinguish between commercial and passenger vehicles for tax purposes ?
