Yes it's the height that is critical, especially when mounted under the seat because the battery lid doesn't shut properly.
When ordering your battery just make sure it's for a Diesel as these engines require a higher cold cranking spec than a petrol engine. Diesels have much higher compression ratios so don't turn over so easily, that combined with the fact that Diesels use glow plugs when cold (even more power being sapped out the battery from cold) all of which means Diesel batteries need to be considerably more powerful than those fitted with a petrol engine.

Quoted capacity is 72AH with a cold cranking figure of 680amps.(for Diesel engined T25's)
Will a smaller battery work...of course it will, probably just long enough to be out it's warranty and then it will die....

Diesels (like yours) have the starter battery in the engine bay. Petrols (like mine) have starter battery under right front seat - which is why height is so important. Leisure battery on both sits under left front seat. Hope this helps .

thanks - that's useful to know!

Cheers, we've also got a new radio and sat nav so I guess we need more than the basic spec ideally. Most of the batteries I've been looking at don't seem to specify if they are for diesel or petrol. These specs should I found on a Bosch one should be ok I think though:
- 750 amps
- 74 Ah
- 278mm x 175mm x 175mm

Cheers
