I saw this Westy a few years back. The top on the luggage rack was a special piece made in Canada. The rear of it had a locking door and the owner said that he stored propane tanks inside it.

It's got to be said it's not the prettiest thing, but a good idea.

I bought this recently and it seems to work a treat.
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B004ZX ... UTF8&psc=1
but I won't be transporting a rifle.
It was on offer at the time for 130 euros, so considerably cheaper than 320 euros.
It doesn't fill the WHOLE space, but its not far off it.

Jed at cvc sells boxes that fit, also a weather-proof bag that takes all three.

I've bought this set from cvc this year: two sturdy boxes in a flexible weather-proof bag. Love it: very versatile, you can put the boxes in our leave them out put to pack other stuff in the bag. Lost of space but not too high upon the roof. Very easy to strap them into place. Not cheap but the money well worth! Can recommend it.
Watch the short video cvc made, to get an good impression.

I’ve looked into this same space on my Westfalia and couldn’t find a perfect off-the-shelf roof box that matches those very low heights either. Most slim boxes start a bit taller than 20 cm, so people usually end up adapting a low-profile plastic or metal box instead. One thing that helped me was lining the inside with tool box foam inserts it keeps everything snug, protected, and stops rattling or damp movement, even if the box itself isn’t a perfect fit. If you do find a watertight box in the 10–20 cm range, measuring the recess carefully and using foam inside makes it much more usable with the existing fastening hooks.
