Re: trakka syncro
I must admit, I'm not overly happy with watching it disolve but not my van anymore and I understand it's heading for a Whitestar look. The only reason I sold it on was that I had plans for customising it originally, but once I found it's provenance and rarety, I didn't feel right in doing so. I now have a Westy and feel no remorse at all in ripping it apart. There are other Trakkas in the UK but I believe this was the only Syncro and had a genuine 60k with full service history and regardless of individuals thoughts on it's value, in the end it sold for less than some sugested and for what it was worth to the new owner, same goes for gearboxes I guess .

Re: trakka syncro
I'd probably of removed the Roo-bar, looked too much/heavy for over here.
Trakka wouldn't of cast their own wheels would they? Wouldn't they of just bought them in?

Yeah, but you'd stick blue and red stripes on it too.

Damn Youuuuuu!
Re: trakka syncro
Would you think the same way if you had the only Westfalia in Europe though Jed?
Good point Al..
As for the Trakka, we were hoping the new owner had signed a covenant first on looking after it properly..
So nobody know who this is... ?

I do...and he lives near Snowdon but for his own safety, I think I'll keep the rest to myself.

Re: trakka syncro
just been reading this thread, it dose not make happy reading in my opinion, first rhd syncro, second, proper camper convershion, was there an OZ spec? air con etc?, third, not common in europe, fourth, lots of unique feachers, fith, nice van
i dont realy see the logic in selling the parts that make this a special van, if the new owner is trying to claw back some of the money that he/she paid for it i would have to ask the question why did they buy it and not a "normal" van to make what they want?
oh and whlie we are on the subject KarlT how much for you tristar interia?
neil

jed the spread wrote:I personally thought the conversion was shoddy looking, especially the table and could pass as home made inside. Didnt think it was anything special at all and not a patch on a Westfalia and people sell bits off them all the time.

Just had a good look at the photos on photobucket, and have to agree with Jed (I know, I know! ) the interior makes Ikea look like quality. Bendy & breaky MFI.
Is that the LPG tank taking up the whole (1980's cheap & nasty B'n'B) wardrobe?
Go on RD's tell us the truth!
Re: trakka syncro
I thought it looked OK, but didn't make it back with more time to look closely... Fran would say I'm sure it was perfectly functional but not to his taste, layout wise. So sensibly he left it alone and moved on
Why buy a pretty rare and special conversion and then rip it apart?
Because it had only 60,00 miles on it and was a good example...
Cynical?
You decide....
