I think they are both the same Cruz - just different colours.
I got it wrong. One is the old style that wraps over the folding arms and the other is a new style that fits in the slot on the front box

I've seen both and both can be used effectivly.. old or new either way

The rafter bar as you put it turns one single awning sheet into two seperate sections, both catching the rain....I've tried one. The only real way to gaurantee the awning doesn't catch rain and form a heavy puddle, is to slope one leg or lower both. I've tried all ways.

As for special tie downs...a guy rope tied to the top of each leg and set at 45 degrees does the trick. I also have a cheap £5 strap I bought from a tack shop that I position centrally over the awning when it gets windy.
