I have the same setup, ordinary relay, chunky wires and the voltage meter mod - all you need really and I've not had a prob.

If I can't get a Bosch battery, what other brands are OK too?

with my trade discount there batterys are a good price, never had a bad un off um! and if you did there's all ways a branch near by to exchange it !

I removed a similar one from the van when I gutted it - I haven't decided whether to refit it as it also was set up to protect the starter battery.
