Ouch, you not thought about doing an LPG conversion. I know I have. Everything seems to point towards Gassure & Elite VW as the recommended places. With fuel prices LPG has got to be worth considering if you put in the miles.

I've read that you get 18mpg out of LPG but it costs less so £ for £ you are probably getting the equivilent of 30mpg compared to cost of Petrol alone if my maths makes sense to anyone else
Still love to get 25 out of it though but I suppose for a 28 year old engine with an exhaust that's on its way out I should be thankful for 18

I would love to know my MPG, However when I filled it up to the brim the day after buying the van I discovered that both fuel pipes for the near side expansion tank leaked all over the forecourt. I have since changed every fuel pipe on the van as the return pipe sitting above the manifold was also in a dangerous state. A water leak has now stopped us from our Bank Holiday trip (was hoping to make an appearance at RTTH) and some fairly large holes above the rear wheel arches will probably stop the holiday after that. I have already changed dangerous electics, refurbished the 2E3 carb and set it up correctly, fixed the Dizzy and re-timed the engine,(as it was loose and the van conked out just 1 mile from home on our 2 week tour). Put a kill switch for the automatic choke on the dash (hoping to lower the anticipated MPG) rewired the manifold preheat, auto choke etc etc as it was wired incorrectly (got fed up with apologising to other campers by ruining their atmosphere as they were sitting down to their full english), fully serviced the van, cleaned the engine bay, as I do not believe it has seen a jet wash in its life, (yes with the electrics removed first). Only had the van for 5 weeksish but you know what, for some crazy reason I am enjoying myself.
