At last Thanks Pacman...........the reason I'm not changing the oil filter is because it was only done last Spring and I really haven't done much milage since then.

Ok I know what we're doing later this evening......

Last spring!!!!!?!?!??!?!??!??!!!!?!?!?!?!?

I use three to four oil filters a year regardless of milage. Diesel engines do like a nice oil and filter change, have you clocked the colour it goes?

Definately 4.5 litres if you change the filter and 4 litres if you don't. Filters are £5 and should be changed every time with oil why contaminate your new clean oil with 0.5 litres of old dirty stuff.

I was advised by a top man here to do the change every 3000 miles.

3000 miles is good, I tend to also just pick a dryish weekend or evening around 3 or 4 months since the last change, for my milage it works out to about the same or better.

Matt!?!? I thought Torz was doing it, not you. I'd have written you a little FAQ and drawn a diagram if I'd known ;)

13mm (or indeed almost any) ring spanner sideways accross the filter. I like the way you couldn't use the slot to tighten it even if you had gone and completely lost your marbles.
