AVO Lowering Springs, any good ?

I fitted AVO 70's to my Tin Top earlier this year and I'm still running the standard BOGE shocks with 2 ribs removed from the bump stops.

I am running 7x17 MAM alloys with an 35 ET offset, longer studs + stud conversion and 20mm hubcentric spacers.

There have been no issues so far, even with 5 of us on a hilly/bumpy wales trip including all our luggage, five mountain bikes and a full tank of fuel.

Obviously the ride isn't as wafty as it was when on 14" steels and standard springs, but it's a damn site better than I thought it would be and there has only been a tiny amount of weeping where the shocks have bottomed out on extreme undulations.

I'm hoping to upgrade to lower shocks at some point so that they are working within a normal range of travel, but until then, it's no hardship living with it as it is at the moment.

Hi Jason.

Two reasons really. Firstly, the centre caps although modified, would not fit on even with the maximum amount of material machined from the hub grease caps (as per Wiki ultimate wheel fitment guide) and it looks miles better with them fitted.

Secondly, I wanted to fill the arches a bit more and I'm happier with the way it looks with the spacers.
If anything, I would like to space the rear a bit more, but the twin sliding doors only just miss the rims as it is and I don't want to put too much strain on the wheel bearings. I know you can do the sliding door mod, but I'll probably leave as is.

Tim I've stayed at that place, there's some great riding around that way. Did you do the whites trail?

Very true. I'm a sucker for an arch-filled stance and I seem to do it to all my rides (Mini, Suzuki SJ & Bus).

I suppose it's the price we pay for vanity

We did the Wall on day one and the Wall 2 on the second day following advice from a friend who now lives in Cardiff. We didn't do the Whites Trail - how was it?
We considered Skyline, but I don't think our fitness levels would have coped , not to mention the guys that were on cable brakes!!

Yeah the Whites trail was great, lovely bit of north shore at the start, we done the wall as well and some other trails. Great weekend we had there. Didn't like that climb at the start though Some chair lifts would be prefect there.
