If I ever take mine off again I will be replaceing it with this.

Then you don't have to replace it every time and it comes with new studs to boot.

Checked that and it seems ok. If I had time I would try another cover...

Changing a rocker cover gasket is pretty easy, the torque is something like 10 or 15nm which is only just over finger tight, you have a spare GSF gasket, as long as the stud holes are the correct size then you know that the problem is going to be the over lengthened part between the N/S rear stud and the cam gasket, cut a bit out if you have to then fill this with gasket sealant if you cut out to much.
Make sure the cam gasket is placed correctly I always find the best view is from underneath n/s.
If the worst comes to the worst take 5ltr of oil with you, not exactly green but hey BP are pumping out "pooh" loads of poison every minute.

At last I stopped the leak! We are still in Spain and not leaving hige oil slicks wherever we park! I orded a gasket from VW here in Spain. When I took the GSF one off it looked like it had been on there for yrs not days. It was broken in several places and had gone brittle, so brittle that I could snap it like a dry twig! I cleaned and removed any trace of the old gasket and sealant making sure not a trace was left. I then tried the VW gasket and it fitted like a glove, no sealant needed! I then tighened it slowly at diaganals so it was hand tight.

So far not a drop of oil... Dam GSF and there crap parts - We should start a list of GSF parts not to use... Now for the white smoke when the engine is cold and screaming turbo....I will start a new post for that!

Given that most garages don't check the tappets and the cam cover is likely to stay in place for longer than a year then the ALL RUBBER gasket sounds like a good solution. (still have a bee in my bonnet about these shims not being checked as they should tho)
