But you need to be absolutely sure you know what is happening.....

I know I've said this before but never mind.
Last year my light started flashing at odd times. Checked - no problem with water.
Find problem with connections (hence my suggestions above) and make mental note to change them when I can get the bits (I was in France at the time) but continue driving to Spain, safe in the knowledge that the wiring is at fault.
Soon after entering Spain notice temperature gauge is steadilly climbing.
Eventually stop sourrounded by steam that was once water inside my engine.

moral - don't rely on the information from ONE gauge if you have two.

I too have had intermittent faults on this circuit. After replacing the level sensor itself, which had a slight leak, and the end of the cable with the plug that connects to the sensor, I then traced it back to a two-way connector in the black plastic box on the bulkhead, after cleaning and re-seating that, the problem seems to have gone away.

well myrtle is back on the road, changed the level sensor, and all seems well. just wanted to thank all that gave pointers/tips, its always appreciated, cheers guys
