forgot to update before, got hold of a new gear stick.

But Im assuming that because this stick was slightly different, I couldnt get Reverse at all.

I put the old back in and its same as before.

So goes to show that playing around with the gear stick, doesnt fix bad selector points. Whole thing needs to be sorted out properly.

You can get the worn side built up by an aluminium welder then ground back smooth again.

Seems that the selector pictured on the wiki is from a diesel and this differs from the petrol. So cant compare to see if anything is bent out of position

But on the right hand side of my level there is that exposed coil, doesnt match up with the other side, so could that be a contributor to the problems im experiencing?

Does anyone know how to get number 11/12 off? I need to replace the bush (number 6) but I can't work out how to get it apart.

If you look at your diagram you will see a roll pin appx 3/16" dia , this is tapped into 11/12 with a suitable sized punch.then is will slide-tap of the shaft, refit is the opposite of what youve done,

looking at your earlier post ref selection , I have removed the lug in the front box as I am happy that i will not try select reverse when moving, basicaly on my 5 speeds you have to overcome the spring pressure to go to 1st/rev gate so when moving and going through the box are unlikely to have a prob, I only select 1st when setting off
