ask classic parts, if enough requests made hopefully they will get them remanufactured, but I guess it depends wether the tool still exists or not

Re: Wobbly swivel seat is MOT failure
May be able to assist... What's the demand like? Maybe this is a part that is just "coming into bloom".Aidan wrote:ask classic parts, if enough requests made hopefully they will get them remanufactured, but I guess it depends wether the tool still exists or not
Anyone got a pic or pattern for a look?

I have both parts brand new unfitted, waiting to go into my van. I could post them to you for a butchers if you want. I'm after some more, as don't have enough for both swivel seats.
cheers
Patrick.

Re: Wobbly swivel seat is MOT failure
Patrick,
I'll pm you with my details and I'll get them measured up asap. It's dead quiet at work so I can do this quickly and get them back to you. Although I'm looking forward to a nice break...

Re: Wobbly swivel seat is MOT failure
Judging by the parts book pic (page 1 of this post) they look like an 'L' section with a large radius to match the bearing diamater. I'll go for a high-strength nylon 66 or similar.gti mad man wrote:are they esentialy just nylon blocks?
Whoever's got one in bits, could you let me know the inner and outer diameters of the recess (mm not old money, ta) that these parts sit in please? I don't have a seat base of my own to measure...

Re: Wobbly swivel seat is MOT failure
20a's look a little more tricky, but they are available so no point struggling to make them just yet...
If folks keep ordering, then the tooling won't get scrapped!

syncropatrick wrote:Cruz wrote:If you remove the 4 bolts and then split the swivel base into it's three parts you will see the glide pieces. The uppers (20a) are still available from vw classic parts 251-881-319
however the lowers (20b) 251-881-320 are not available from anywhere unless someone has a spare but you could improvise and make some up using a bit of angled plastic
20a coming from Classic Parts at 77 cents each. 20b coming from Aidan. In the meantime bunged it up with foam insulation to stop it moving.
Ta all.
