I looked at Vagcat and it shows same from 80 on. :? The mystery continues.

this has really got me strumped now as mines clearly blacnked off so wont even blow cold air arghhhhhhhh

i think you have it connected to the wrong outlet.......

mine is 89 and blows hot and cold (female?)
my old 84 was cold only, but the pipes go different places.....

ill go look at the early heater box, if i can get to it......

I wonder if it's a vent from another vehicle? is it stamped up with a VW badge and part number? did any vans have hole for vents in places that were optional such as the roof vents on velle's?

Failing that as already said it could just be a (REALLY rare!) cross-over quirk...

*******************NOW SORTED***************

LOl after having another look the answer was so simple

there is indeed another outlet to the heater box but its right up under the dash one of them lay on the floor jobs

someone had obviously removed it at some point and fitted it to the incorect outlet(this %100 wasnt me)

all seems fien now havnt test driven to check if its hot air or not but it blows which is better than nowt

i looked at the early one, just a few mins ago, and it only has the one which isnt blanked......
cant see my camper (late) without ripping too much stuff out right now, but you sorted it so good good
sorry i didnt get back sooner.....bliddy work got in the way

it does indeed blow hot so both dash vents now blowing hot ait :ok
