I've got a dizzy in the garage, think it came off a 1.6CT; you can have it to try if you want? Part number on it is 070 905 205 / 0237 023 005. If your going to the meet tomorrow night i can bring it with me.

I don't think it's even the right one for the CT though jase, part number doesn't match according to VAGCAT; might be ok for fault-finding though and rule out/prove a problem with the dizzy?

got the new coil today put it on and started first time ran for about 5 mins and then started playing up dying then picking up then ok for a few seconds then dying agin and picking up and on and on

Is the idle stabilizer unit still connected?
Have you tried a new rotor arm?
Are you getting sparks?

idle stabilizer no
new rotor arm yes
sparks unsure as was on my own

ok put some more new plugs in what a pain 2 of them are
changed the ignition amplifier for another
another new fuel filter
set the fuel regulator to 1.5 bar
and started first time ran for 10-15 min so turned it off and started again first time took for 5 min drive
all seems fine
