Right oh, I got the pressure washer and wire brush out today and cleaned out around the trailing arm and under the arch etc and it looks like, apart from the spring locator and some surface rust/grim etc, the rest of the trailing arm looks solid, no holes and all looks pretty solid to me.
So Im now looking at getting the trailing arm repair section from Brickwerks and getting them welded on and fingers crossed all should be well.
However, on Brickwerks site it says,
"these sections are laser cut from flat steel so that the pressed in section is not there, this could cause issues with the pigtails breaking off factory springs, there won't be an issue with aftermarket parallel wire springs but tapered wire may be more susseptable to fracture, with that in mind a rubber spring support the same as what is fitted to the top side of the spring will give the required support by may result in a slight lift at the rear. I'm sorry but we do not sell second hand spares so we don't supply these rubber pieces, we would suggest that you find a dealer of second hand T3 spares to help you. "
My question is, Can I get away with not putting these on if I have original springs on? If not, does anyone know where I can get these from, new or second hand, and what exactly are they called.? There is a yellowish plastic disc thing (techinical I know!!!) sitting under the spring at the bottom, what is this, is this what its talking about??
