track rod ends and suspension rubbers

If you do that the steering wheel will not be straight Keep them the same lengh and then get it tracked.

well thanks to fullsunian's and dugcati's advice (top blokes ) the TRE's are on....the passenger side one gave me some grief and claimed one of me best pound shop 12mm spanners ....just need to test drive it down to the tracking station now .

..when i bought this van i had a new 4.5ltr tub of druemex hand cleaner..its half gone now

now just the suspension rubbers to sort and hopefully the drum and bass group will be gone from under the van

so by the looks of mine the cups are also the wrong way round..if i just turn them round do you think it will stop the noise?

ok..ive followed Steve T's instructions and turned the cups the right way round..but the rubbers do need replacing...they are distorted,but im gonna give it a try later and see how it handles..and listen for knocks and bangs.the nuts on the bottom of the link were only just nipped up
funny these buses,what looks like a right pig of a job turns out to be dead simple(mostly ).

Was going to say.....antiroll bar cupped washers are the wrong way around.
Personally I wouldn't recomment the wedge type ball joint splitters...they are a bit brutal and can damage other things, the scissor type is better but really all you need is a good long bar ie; jack handle or similar a second person to use this lever close to the track rod end (apply good pressure) then wack the hub carrier next to the tapered ball joint with you favourite 2-3Ib ball pain hammer. BANG! it will come off.

well..the way i got the TRE'S off was a bit different..they had the old castle nuts on with the split pins.they had corroded into the TRE's and i couldnt get them out so i just got the bits off on the outside of the nut and un did it .it was a bit tight and it started to spin ,but i used a quick clamp on it so it pushed it into the hole more and locked it off so i could get the nuts off.as for the rubbers on the drop link...gawd knows why people put the cups on the wrong way.i can see it looks aesthetically pleasing but it ruins the rubbers coz the spacer has about 5 mm play and it effectivley tries to rip the rubbers in half...although...before today i proberbly would have fitted them the wrong way

only just took it out for a spin today
...i managed to get some rubbers from gsf over the weekend and fitted them..its a lot better than before.still got the rubber rubbing noise on speed humps but the drum and bass guys have packed up and gone .i must have hit lucky with my estimating the extra length of the new track rod ends coz the van stays in a straight line and the wheel is dead center too..might just leave it but keep an eye on the tyres for odd wearing.if that happens ill take it down the tracking station...thanks for all the help lads
