I've seen worse. I'd be tempted to hook it up temporarily and give it a whirl (whilst keeping an eye on it). An hour or two should show if it's working or not when you feel the tray in the freezing compartment. It must be level though to work properly.

If it works, get a gas person to fit it permanently.

only problem is now the wires have come loose we don't know how to re attach the electrics, i'll hav to c if i can find someone who knows more than we do about electrics!!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help on our fridge, just to let you know what happened, we were all set to try and fix it and we'd pretty much exhausted all options when our collegues at work announced they had bought us a new fridge as a leaving present!! how nice of them. But thanks for your help with our original one.
