Nice one!! I've had the cooker, sink & fridge unit bit out, re-assenbled (outside the van mostly) and reckon that - compared to how I did it in the first place I've got it sussed to a 'simpler' method. It's back in now but I'm off camping easter and Bustypes looks on the cards so I'll be removing it again the weekend after that when I will photo the entire rigmarole. If we all pool our experiences, (best bandage knots, sticking plaster tips, new swear words etc) we may save some other poor bugger having to go through this.................
you've more patience than me too but mine was shot anyway after taking a soaking from the leaky roof. I was surprised how heavy all the original furniture was and I'm hoping my home made replacement will be a bit lighter. I don't need so much furniture as it's only me and the little un using it for weekends so I'm just making a few bits from MDF - I'm not sure what finish to use though, I might try just painting it and see how that goes.
Been thinking about doing this for a while now to get the the back of my rusty seams. Do people any of you still have plans of how to do it?
Like most of you I'm dreading it and am a bit fearful of the whole experience! Might try to do before camping season kicks on or might bottle it and do it in the autumn. ROughly speaking how long should it take to do?

Hi Sam. I've got oodles of photos. PM me an email address and I'll send you the most relevant. I'd post them up here but my computer won't let me upload to Photobucket for some reason
E D I T....Posted this after 1664.........if he has pics that will help alot.....maybe in the WIKI?
The process is described earlier in the thread and there is no easy way. The units were largely assembled and fitted in situ so its a case of thinking 'backwards' and dismantling in reverse. Keep a pencil and paper handy. Chances are you will end up making improvements to the assembly. Assembly items to look for....
Plastic rIght Angle Block Connectors
Mild Steel Right Angle Brackets (some are pop rivetted to the body work)
The Wooden batton tha runs under the window frame along the length of the van to the Wardrobe (this is the key anchor point for most of the units, once top is removed you will see it
Some of the screws will cause you problems as they will have rusted, particulrly those that anchor the units to the floor...........there are lots of them too along with plastic right angle connectors which have a cosmetic plastiic cover to hide the screws. These can be a nuisance to remove and I ended up tapping a screw driver through them and levering them out as trying to lever them out carefully(without them snapping) was a waste of time.
I can't upload them to Photobucket though - well, not unless I pop into the local library sometime and upload them there off a memory stick i suppose. In fact I'll pull my finger out and do that this week 'cos they're a fat lot of good sitting on my hard drive. That won't get them on the Wiki though - isn't the Wiki only accessible to certain members?
Had the dreaded Autohomes furniture out job myself this winter. Can confirm it is a right pain (what muppet designed it). All good advise on here, get a good assortment of screws in and do as I did, replace the lot.
Once you remove it all, it all becomes apparent as to what fits where (an extreme mismatch of wood & bits) take photo's as you go for referral.
When you come to put it all back in you will probably figure a better way to fit it & be prepared for replacing the odd piece of timber, some of mine broke or was water damaged, I've replaced with similar sized timber (not chipboard), with an oak stain varnish it's not too bad a mismatch and a damned site more solid.
Good Luck

Right, sorted the photos out, marked up a few to show screw positions etc, and saved onto a memory stick to up load to Photobucket in the local library. I am now sat in the library and will they upload?? No of course they won't - even tried different terminals. Stick is definately unlocked and can bring the photos up on the screen no problem, but Photobucket........................
I'll try something else.................not sure what yet though
Think you have to reduce the image file size for photobucket, other than that, if they are standard Jpeg images I can't see why they why don't upload. As for the Wiki, pm HarryMann and submit the details, pics to him as he wants articles for the WIKI (he may give you permission rights to do it yourself). Removing the Autohomes interior and water tank would be useful as this is a popular conversion and, as these vans get older, more people will find it a useful resource.
Right, bit of good news. After the great library fiasco of 2010 I decided to give my laptop another go and for some strange reason it worked but not for long . I managed to upload about half of the photos before it reverted back to it's unco-operative mode. I have a sneaking feeling that the problem might be due to the signal strength/speed of my donglethingy as I'm on the edge of signal reception where I live. My local pub however has installed free wifi so I might try uploading the remainder whilst enjoying a pint of his finest Kronenbourg .
Photobucket automatically resizes the images as I upload them - don't ask me how, but it does (when it works).
I had a look at the instructions for adding to the 'Wiki' yesterday - gonna have to work on that......
Incidentally, I didn't remove the water tank but by the time the furniture's removed it would be a doddle anyway.
