I sympathise with your pain, it's a nightmare when you keep hitting mechanical walls but don't give up, it will come good!
I should mention I have never worked on a T25 diesel... however, my understanding is that a diesel engine has no carburetor and that there is usually only one spark plug, the 'glow' plug to initiate the first turn of the engine, thereafter the diesel engine compresses the fuel to run in comparison with a petrol engine which uses several spark plugs to ignite (rather than compress) the fuel.
I'm sorry I cant offer much in the way of direction other than that I'm afraid... i too am a novice on a huge huge learning curve. Next task for me is starter motor and bush.... i have bought the bits, how tricky did you find it?

Dave the 'DG' refers to the engine code for a 78ps petrol engine.

my leads don't cross they just go from the dizzy to the plug.
the diagram is just to show the firing order and cylinder No. really
Surely it wouldn't matter even if you platted them.... as long as you marked them before disconnecting them ?
Fuggin' Tarrant you done me out of a mint!
should've asked the audience

i see, silly old me ey... i think it was also the 1.9 thing..... i always relate 1900 engines to diesel.
AFAIK VW didn't fit the 1.9 oil burners in the T25 ... many others have been grafted in afterwards though, replacing the pitifull remains of blown 1.6 & 1.7 lumps.

firing order is clockwise 1-4-3-2 so Kev is correct, the disi is actually at an angle and the leads optimum length hence the physical cross over of 1 and 2 leads in practice
you can double check as it's 1234 anticlockwise

It was pretty simple really... difficult to see anything up there but i used a camera phone to see what where the bush was and felt around. I didn't have too much trouble, took about 30min-1hour i think.

Ok great, I may get on that this weekend then... nice one.
