The Bosch regulator bush pack was a very commonly replaced part, even the main dealers stocked them as a cheap alternative to fitting the complete alternator unit. You do however have to check that the splip ring (the contact points for the two bushes) are not too badly worn on the rotor (you will notice two distinct grooves where the bushes have been running) These bush.regulator packs are becoming harder and harder to find as all newer alternators have regulators integrated in to the unit (they don't bolt on to the outside like this any more)
