Oh I have been misinformed then. Still worth a visit though you reckon? We're spending a few nights at Ayr in St Ives beforehand and I wanted a nice contrast, Ayr is lovely but a bit caravanny and sterile.

We were quite lucky with our choice in campsites, we turned up en-spec as it was September and had little trouble finding really nice sites although we did on occaision drive in and straight back out again of sites that looked a little gash.

Two campsites that really stuck out were a really nice small(ish) campsite in Gorran Haven which is near St Austell called Treveague Farm, we went in September so it was very quiet although looking at their website it would seem that in season they have a small farm which might be great for kids and an on-site shop which is handy, the views of the sea and cliffs in the background were really nice.

Another is Lower Treave which is near Crows An Wra which is not far from Sennen which is of course near Lands End, very handy location as there are lots of great places nearby. This site is divided into three levels and again I was really impressed, They have all the facilities you need and a nice view.

Both of these sites were really cheap but again we were out of season and although I am all for exploring new campsites etc I was that impressed with both of these that I'll be visiting them again at some point. They both have websites too which is handy.

I've just realised that you wanted a swimming pool-Oops I didn't pay any attention to that bit so ignore these! doh! I'll get me coat :run
Cheers

Hi
I would recomend Trevornick, hollywell bay near nequay! outdoor pool, fun park, golf course, clean and tidy and only five mins walk down to the beach so if the weather is not up to much you always have the attractions around the nequay area to see! the only downside to this campsite is that some pitches are on a hill check before you book!!

another park would be hollywell bay park which is in the same area but closer to the sea. The actual site isnt quite as nice as trevornick but ok! the beach at hollywell bay is very nice if you have kids then they have a clean stream that runs through the beach to play in! also sand dunes and that all important surf!!!

hope this helps but you would need to book early on both sites!!

happy camping

Gwithian gets a good review on Funplace2b and I know of a friend of a friend who is Cornish and keeps their static van there.

I'm booking it for 10 days in August, looks great.

St Ives Bay is a good location and has extras like bar, entertainment, pool etc but it's pricey height of season..........

Sarah

ps: Ruthern Valley also looks gorgeous but haven't been.

We have taken our caravan and camper to Newperran Holiday Park which is between Perranporth and Newquay. It is a large site with a lovely new heated outdoor pool, a restaurant, a shop and a pub, the Cottage, on site. There are static vans for hire, I should think it gets pretty crowded in the summer holidays, we always go in June when it is fairly quiet. It is not near the sea so you have to drive. We have found the owners very friendly. They have a website.
