Soudal make crap window silicone. I've used 100's of tubes fitting windows and doors.
Stikaflex is the best by far.
I would not trim this with a knife. I would use a spatular or scraper to remove larger bit of oosed out stuff and wipe away any exess (sp)
with a cloth or sponge soaked in a suitable solvent. Leaving a good smooth sealed finish ready for painting.
It's gonna cost around a tenner a tube wherever you go. you'll only save pence shopping around.
Hightop sealent (Tigerseal)

Perhaps they do, but he was looking for something (cheeper?) to seal a GRP roof to a van.
40FC is not silicone based. I've used plenty of it to bond GRP panels whilst building cars. I have also tried on several occasions to remove it again. I am yet to see it fail, even in an impact the GRP ruptures before the bond gives. So I'm sure it is more than capable of sealing a roof.
I don't sell it or own the company, I was just offering an idea for a cheeper alternative.
NO PIES CAKES OR BEER LEFT IN THIS VAN OVERNIGHT.
