Thanks Terrywill, like you say may help someone else and good to know for future reference for all, my part arrived yesterday and hopefully will be able to get the van sorted next week, finally.
When I was taking the old one off, the return pipe around the top of the engine bay was corroded, has anyne any idea how easy they are to get hold of.

Replace the engine bay bleed pipe with one from a later van (plastic) blank off any extra outlets- such as the one adjacent to the stat housing.
Any decent breaker will have these on the shelf.
