Hi - I'm eyeing up a 1Y engine - from a 95 golf. At what year did they get complex with immoblizers & clusters? This one has a cable but has a few wires (Three I think) hanging out the back of the pump.

mine was from a 95-96 golf, i didnt get to find out exactly, it was from a french car that was written of in an accident they had while on holiday in britain. the one i have has a black box just above the 4 injector lines(2 wires), there are 2 wires coming from the centre of the injector lines, 2 from just below them (on the side), the cold start has 1 wire (not cable)like my old engine, and another wire is attached to a black thing the size of your thumb( thats the only wire my old pump had on it) so thats connected. hope you have more joy than me!! while a drip of fuel is now showing it is not yet running, and its sapping my energy.
