Whey Hey,,,,,that'll be the 'Fritzfinger' a device that slips over the tailgate striker post (fixed when in position) and the other end connects to the latch mechanism which can then be locked if required. It allows the tail gate to be left slightly ajar to aid ventalation,,,,,BUT is secure enough so no-one can reach inside to nick your gear.

In fact our lass has been using one for the last couple of nights while she is camping with the kids at a secret location........

I've got a couple of those cab window vents that is the same shape as the window (although shorter) and fits on top of the glass so that when you wind up the window the vent is secure in the window aperture. It had mesh in the vent slots to stop the midges. The slots are also shaped to prevent rain coming in. They work well but are a bit bulky to carry. I bought them at vanfest so am not sure who sells them.

I've had these on sale for some time , and it is only when the weather stays warm for a few days that people start asking the question of rear end 'Ventalation'.

I thought these were a bit heavy when I looked at them at JK

So I made these from plastic foam sheet and caravan fridge vent grills - I included some insect proof mesh - all hotglued together. They are not as secure cos you could kick them in, but are light and easy to store.

Thieves have been known to gas truckers while they sleep in their cabs and then knock off the load - saw it on the telly last night so it must be true!!

it is true cos they stole her wine! the lady trucker said so!

i woke up with a really sore head and my wine had all gone

as for the solar vent, i fitted one before we went to cornwall, it's fantacstic, but it has started to rattle a bit now after a few months, but not enough to wake me up, which was the problem we had in the firstplace (waking up cos it was hot) but i've now got three opening windows in the back!

Got a 3 speed omnistor suck or blow 10" in place of roof vent, can be left on all night, pick your own speed. Sucks or blows cool air in and hot air out.

For ventilation sucking is usually best... that is, blowing 'out' and if that is done at the 'top' then it is removing hot air and allowing cooler air to enter somewhere below.

If you make a sealable vent in floor area, low down somewhere, this would be best.

Anyone got an attic room without a roof vent.. Phew! all house's hot air builds up in roof apex and unless it gets sucked out or can exit naturally at high-point, its a waste of time trying to blow air inwards... might stir air up a bit and feel cooler but not an effective solution... best solution is alwasy to help air move the way it wants to anyway, hence roof vents and roof extraction fans.

Yes I tried my table leg hole mounted fan yesterday and it picks up cool air from under the van and blows it into the van where it does its job and escapes out of the roof vent. I am thinking of putting a serie of holes in the table leg so we can have cool air around our nether regions while eating at the table. I did think about water ingress if I drove through a ford (the water not the vehicle) but then the floor vent for the fridge would take in water anyway.
