i have a whale inline pump, its mounted so the inlet to the pump is just slightly lower than the outlet of the tank, it weighs nothing to speak of and self primes.... the pipesize is the standard 1/2 blur food quality water pipe... BUT, remember, in winter it will need removing if the temp gets below -3 deg c or the pump will crack, as it will never be empty...... i nip mine off if the temp goes too low, unless im camping, which means its running, and i risk it....... i carry a spare!
you dont need the non return valve malarky either......

Something like this , ringo!

Yup was hoping it would work steve as im going to mount it down by the outlet of my underslung tank (just bit lower)

do you use the pump on its own or to feed a main tank?

Ive curently got 2 inline valves but not sure will need them with this pump.

Thanks for the link.

TBH, i think i might just replace the original pump. That one lasted for 17 years and you dont have to worry about it freezing...

Have you dropped the water tank? quite often there's a white fur that gathers in the bottom of water tanks  The first time i found it was when I was having trouble with the front washers. On a friends built in water tank we found a simlar stuff floating about! They should have a good clean out at least once a year.
