In my personal opinion, the T3, while quite capable off-road, is primarily a road vehicle. I also use it primarily as a road vehicle.
Having driven both 2WD's and now the Syncro, I think that a perfectly functioning VC provides great safety benefits in on-road driving, especially on wet and bumpy roads.

Personally I would never fit a decoupler and forgo the advantages of permanent and automatic 4WD for the sake of slightly better off-road performance ...but then I hardly ever use it off-road in earnest.

As a new VC is the same price (or cheaper) than a decoupler, it will be a new VC for me if and when the current one goes.
