i will be crawling under mine in the next few days ill take a in sit pic if thats anygood clive, mine is a right bugger, it moves too far for reverse, but all the rest a good........ going to take the stick out and turn the onion round on the stick, and use a different bit.......

... or the fork ends break off giving same effect, can get 'under' gate detents

Think they're not on the diesel Syncro, cast.moulded onto the lever forks, very hard to replace (I used tufnol sleeve) think the front-selector rod and lever arangement is a bit different on 2WD 5-speed, but once you take a look, all will become clear...

Get front well up in the air and chocked and remove spare and take a good close-up look, torch might be handy, and a mate to move the lever from cab, pushing fully down and to left to see if it is indeed getting tangled 'behind' the gate/detent block.

Rear bush is most likely to have a lot of play, UJs and centre bush can do, but rear bush most vulnerable. If left too long without grease and new bushes the rod itself wears below its nominal ID of 20mm, and that is effectively a non-replaceable part (cost). Ditto centre bush. UJ pins and bushes easy to fit.
