As my mum says.....''If a jobs worth doing.............''

Yes its a pain, if you don't know history, do inner & outer at same time.

Are the inners the same as a standard T25 rear gaiter?

The original OEM front inner boots are in fact a slightly different design and part number (and priced accordingly!)...

However, everyone now seems to use exactly the same joints and boots as the 4 rears without problems.

Would never recommend anything other than genuine outer boots for the fronts though

Getting tired HM?

I think he meant to say 'outer'.

Was wondering....

To help delay the boots from splitting , could we spray a rubber lubricate on them as part of the service routine, to help stop perishing so quickly?

So on the front drive shafts the outer boots are the same as the inner boots? So I need 4 the same to do the front?

Are the rear boots any different to stock, as I think I need to do those too.

No, the front outer boots are different.

The front inners are the same as the rear ones.

Sounds like a fun weekend ahead!!

Make sure there isn't too much play in the cv's before doing all that work. In & out ok but side to side not good.

Right cool. I will try to get some this afternoon.

I;m not going to do them all in one go! I will plod through the MOT work between other jobs. There are a few bits to do.

I have done loads of CV boots on bay windows, but never a front syncro. I guess it's gonna be a pain, but it needs to be done. I might have a go at them tomo.

I just had a good look under there & it's only the front outers that need doing. The rear ones are ok.

I did (Or Fred at Partco) did a bit of donkey work & back tracked the part number for the outer CV joint. It is the same number as an Audi 90 Quatro inner joint from 82>85. The boot kit part No. is: PTBK205.

It may well be that the Audi CV boots might fit a syncro too.

Just so you know, I should have a limited supply of OEM CV boot kits.

£10 plus VAT for 14"
£20 plus VAT for 16"

I do know this looks like I'm slagging off the cheap nasty boots so you buy my correct fitting, nice ones but really it isn't.
Just don't want you lot wasting your money on cheap kak.

Just done this on mine,Ive used the genuine boots from VW they were £25 each,I figured that the genuine ones that were fitted had lasted 5 years of my ownership which havnt been gentle ones.
So why scimp and fit inferior parts that may let you down?
